The philosophy of design at Sophie Hulme.
Sophie Hulme launched her eponymous accessories brand in 2011, loved the world over for its sophisticated designs, gold hardware and unexpected details. Led by founder and creative director Sophie, the brand produces four collections a year, which are responsibly made in Italy, Hungary and Spain. The brand is currently retailed in 250 locations across 30 countries – including Selfridges, NET-A-PORTER, Liberty, Harrods and Harvey Nichols in the UK, and Neiman Marcus, Saks, Bergdorf Goodman, Opening Ceremony, Le Bon Marche and On Pedder internationally.
Based in a former toy factory in London, Sophie Hulme HQ is both business-like and personal, reflecting how the brand has grown from just one designer to a global force. Collections of vintage toys and trinkets mingle with moodboards, materials, prototypes and timelines. Not to mention the ever-present house mascot, Alan the Beagle.
The philosophy of design at Sophie Hulme is both practical and personal, born of the designer’s love for menswear and military dress. A complete focus on detail, quality and craftsmanship is truly paramount. Made with long-lasting saddlery leather and adorned with 24-carat gold plated hardware, bags are designed to age beautifully. Each comes with a seasonal charm to be collected and cherished.
But the future of Sophie Hulme is not just bags. The design house will launch jewellery and evening bags in 2016, with other lines to follow.
Meanwhile, Sophie Hulme the designer is an award-winning, internationally renowned creative. Having won both Collection and Student of the Year, she graduated from Kingston University’s Fashion BA in 2007. Following this, she was a recipient of the BFC/ELLE Talent Launchpad, along with a British Fashion Award for Emerging Talent in accessories in 2012.
